Tick-tack. Tick-tack. Tick-tack. Tick-tack... That's the seconds passing by. One by one they pass, without one really noticing. We could count them forever, but at the end of the day, it's the hours we remember, not the seconds. At the end of the week, it's the days we remember, not the seconds, minutes or hours. And in the end of the year, it's the months or weeks we remember. And still, every second matters.
Seconds are strange, strange things. We cannot really hear them, smell them, taste them or feel them. In the end, they don't mean anything to any of us. Still they can be the difference between life and death.
Yes, I think we can all agree that time is something strange. A very long time ago, in a time we can only read about in our textbooks, they didn't count time at all. That's a very long time ago. Then, time was measured with help from the sun and the stars. Now, we put all our trust in a small, genious machine; always giving off a special sound to remind us of its exictense. Tick-tack, tick-tack. Who invented this genious way of measuring time? And was this, the way we use time today, the aim or end? Was this meant to be?
Seconds can be counted forever, time is the most valuable thing we own. It's so strange. You cannot pause, not even when you think you take a pause. You cannot press a rewind button to make things undone. Maybe someday, thay'll invent a genious machine for that too. But not today. So be careful with your time, it will continue to slipp out of your grip, like sand between your fingers. Be careful, today.

Amanda,

Did you know that if man had not invented the clock we would not have had the industrial revalution. And if we had not developed very acurate and rugged clocks called cronagraphs maps would be very inacurate and we would be always disagreeing about boarders and property lines. And without being able to count nano-seconds astronauts would not have made it to the moon or the space station. But remember most clocks today have alarm settings so we don't have to waste our pressious time watching clocks.

Great post - and very true! Time is the main thing we have to our advantage as youth! We can take risks, try out our ideas, and see what happens!

Atomic Clock Wristwatch
One can even get wristwatches that set themselves to an atomic clock (yes I own one ;-) ). It provides a strange sense of comfort in the accuracy, yet as the previous comments indicate, humans struggled for years and survived without such accuracy.
